What you will be doing

The Vice President, Payer Strategyis responsible for leading payer strategy development for the IHOC SpecialtyNetwork, developing and driving innovative pull-through initiatives, andguiding payer programs to ensure quality of deliverables. Functions as the recognizednational payer strategy authority for IHOC Specialty Network.

  • Work with IHOC members to identifyand contract with local and national payers for IHOC Specialty Network access.
  • Seeks out, builds and maintains relationshipswith the strategic thinkers at the third-party entities that contract withpharmacy networks seeking to ensure members have access to covered lives andexpanded services at or above competitive market rates.
  • Sets the strategy and tone for negotiationsand leads the contracting team.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory,legislative and industry changes that impact community pharmacy andreimbursement to make sure contracts properly deal with their future impacts.
  • Uses internal and external datasources to analyze gross profit, market position and market share to informcontract negotiations.
  • Monitors the approval process forcontracts, identifies and resolves business issues that pertain to potentialagreements. Provides insight and guidance to executive team in addressingdifficult contract actions.
  • Adapts approaches, methods andsystems in response to the constantly evolving managed care environment.
  • Meets regularly with third-partyentities at their locations, to conduct business reviews, deepen relationshipsand develop opportunities; attends industry events such as NASP, Asembia, NCPDP,and NACDS annual meetings.
  • Supports the mission and vision of IHOCby continually reinforcing opportunities to build shareholder value.
  • Lead value proposition creation,including account strategy, contracting strategy, commercialization strategyand pricing. Insure consistency among strategic direction and market/customerrequirements.
  • Strong executive presence withability to clearly communicate the value proposition to customers, prospects,and internal and external partners.
  • Facilitate internal communication ofdefined payer strategy with IHOC members and ABC leadership.
  • Fosters proactive, continued qualityimprovement and identification of areas at risk.
  • Establish business objectivesrequired to meet IHOC member requirements and achieve financial/growth targetsand key goals.

  • What your background should look like (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience inpayer strategy, with expertise in managed care, pharmacy benefit management orpharmaceutical consulting preferred.
  • BS/BA required, advanced degreepreferred (MBA).
  • Extensive understanding of thepharmacy benefits industry, including its trends and directions, with emphasison the health system specialty pharmacy and specialty pharmacy marketplace,networks and contracting.
  • Pharmacy healthcare background withclinical competency and experience that promotes a high level of credibilitywith pharmacy professionals.
  • Requires experience in seniormanagement role(s), preferably across more than one specialty pharmacy.
  • Excellent communication and grouppresentation skills. Experience presenting at c-level, both externally andinternally.
  • Knowledge of technologies incorporate and healthcare settings.
  • Strong analytical abilities anddecision-making capabilities.
  • Advanced understand of the dynamicsof healthcare and managed care, medical trends.
  • Works independently, while balancinginteractions with senior management team.
  • Ability to effectivelymaintain/build relationship across business units
  • Requires project management skillsand the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
