Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our organization as Mgr Data Science. The Mgr Data Science is responsible for leading the analytics team at Benevera and for the creation and management of two key products for our partners/clients: the Benevera analytic portfolio of regularly updated reports and custom, ad hoc, and innovative analyses.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Working closely with the Benevera VP for Population Health to provide actionable findings in support of consultative services for our partners/clients: Answering key analytic questions for our partners /clients populations. Presenting analyses and collaborating with the VP for Population Health in providing advice and actionable recommendations about key opportunities
Identifying and organizing into an analytic plan the analytic components and data sources needed to address the questions raised by the VP of Population Health, including those addressing the needs of individual partners/clients and the needs of Benevera overall. Assessing all existing data sources for use in analyses and determining how best to access and organize the data from these multiple sources for specific analyses. Exploring new data sources with the potential to add value to analyses
Becoming expert in and facile with Optum Performance Analytics, and becoming familiar with Optum Care Coordination Platform
Supervising, mentoring, and developing a team of analysts, supporting and delegating as appropriate, and ensuring the team achieves its goals
Determining expected time frames for analyses with the goal of producing them as efficiently and quickly as possible
Setting clear expectations for the analytic team for completion of analyses by expected dates, and holding staff accountable for these expectations
Create presentations and graphics for external and internal audiences, and leading such presentations.
Guiding the analytics team in how best to access and integrate various data sources to best support analyses.
Iterating on analyses in collaboration with the VP of Population Health
Perform out-of-the-box thinking, collaborate with others, and make a difference every day!

WHAT YOU NEED:
MSc/MA/MPH degree in health care, business administration, computer science, data science or equivalent. PhD degree in health care, data science, and/or analytics is a plus.
At least 8 years of work experience with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. At least 3 years of experience in managing, mentoring and developing a team of analysts and in managing relationships with contracted teams and vendors. Some clinical experience is a plus
Advanced experience and skill in research design and methods, and in population health analysis required
Knowledge of common electronic healthcare coding systems (e.g., NDC, ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM, HCPCS).
Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) and/or R experience required
Advanced PL/SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint skills preferred
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communications skills (written and verbal) and strong presentation and facilitation skills (even when not subject matter expert)
High energy level, strong work ethic, proactive problem-solving skills, with a focus on deliverables
Strong organization and follow-through skills and able to prioritize multiple projects.
